Beyond Technique: The Art & Craft of Alternative Process Photography
Ages: 16 - No Limit
Who's using alternative photographic processes in their art-making? Why did they choose their process and what makes them tick? Why do you use them? And why should anyone care? Push beyond process to "why" instead of just "how" during an evening of discussion and critique of contemporary alternative process photography where we'll try to work out the answers to these questions. We'll view and discuss the work of modern-day practitioners of various processes, talk about their place in the lexicon of photo-history, and then open the floor to anyone who would like feedback and discussion of their own work, either finished or in progress.
Suggested reading is "Photography Beyond Technique: Essays from F295 on the Informed Use of Alternative and Historical Photographic Processes," by Tom Persinger, but it's not required to participate.
