Martha "Belle" Heppard
After practicing medicine for 16 years, Martha "Belle" Heppard retired so that she could spend more time with her family. A few years later she started pursuing her passion for art and began taking oil and watercolor classes at local art centers. She learned how to apply the wax resist method of batik to her paintings while using watercolor and rice paper, and since that time has specialized in this unique process. She finds inspiration for her paintings by hiking in the Rocky Mountains and from local, national and international travel. She has had her work published in books, has won awards for her pieces, exhibits locally and nationally, and teaches this technique in local workshops.
